THE Overalls from Kit's Overalls Outfit

I love a good pair of doll jeans. Unfortunately, whether they're from American Girl or another creator, good jeans seem to be few and far between. Maybe it's because denim can be difficult to work with at such a small scale. There's a good reason Barbie wears a lot of printed denim.
Twelve years ago, I got two amazing pairs of skinny jeans from Royal Doll Boutique. They're still some of my favorite pieces to mix 'n' match. The jeans are made of a slightly thinner denim (I think they're made of a chambray or similar material), but they've held up really well after several years and a ton of use. I've yet to find a nicer pair elsewhere, even from American Girl.
That said, AG still wins when it comes to jean shorts. The pair that comes with Luciana's Stellar Outfit is one of my favorites. I wish American Girl would re-release them without the decal. Joss's meet shorts are also a great addition to any wardrobe.
And then there are overalls...
American Girl currently offers a pair of "historical" overalls as part of Nicki's Skateboarding Outfit. I briefly saw them when I visited AGPLA at the end of 2025, but even from the stock photos online, you can tell that they're fairly simplistic. The fabric seems to be more like chino than denim, and the design is a little more basic. They're cute, and they do offer a lot of mix 'n' match potential, but they don't hold a candle to one of the greatest pairs of overalls American Girl has ever produced, the overalls from Kit's Overalls Outfit.
These overalls are a work of ART! They're made of actual denim. They have real, working pockets for days! I knew they were going to be amazing, but I was completely blown away the first time I saw them in person. The fit is spectacular. The design is timeless. I just cannot say enough good things about these overalls. They were expensive -- and I bought a pair by themselves, not the entire overalls outfit set -- but they are truly worth every penny. I could never even begin to make anything like these myself.
The bib pocket on Nicki's overalls would be easy to sew -- one large shape divided by straight lines. The bib pocket(s) on these overalls are intricate and complicated. There's one loose pocket and one with a button-closure flap. Nicki's has a single stitch around the sections of the pocket, while these have the double-stitch you'll find on real jeans. Even the stitching around the "fly" is more detailed.
I'm not sure what the back of Nicki's overalls looks like, but I doubt it's as detailed as the pair from Kit's set! The double rows of stitching on the back pockets are a particularly nice touch.
I am so excited to have this pair of overalls in my collection! I've seen so many great outfits on AGIG using them. These overalls are so versatile, and I'm looking forward to styling them in different ways each season!
Now if only American Girl could make more jeans like these! I'd buy them all in a heartbeat!
