A new look, a new way of blogging, but the same love of all things American Girl!

Last Time on Mini Mad...
If you're reading this, you've likely either followed the link from my old blog, MINI MAD: We're All Mini Mad Here, or you clicked the link in my Instagram profile. Either way, welcome to the new Mini Mad! Tales from an American Girl Doll Collector!
If you're familiar with my old blog, you probably know that I haven't updated it in a hot minute -- mostly because it's been so much easier to post directly to Instagram. But as simple as it is to add a couple of pictures, write a caption, add some tags and hit "post," I've sometimes missed having the chance to write more -- especially when introducing a new doll or talking about something I've made.
Enter the new Mini Mad! This blog will be a companion piece to my Instagram. If there's something I want to talk about in more detail -- the process involved in making something, a doll's backstory, etc. -- this is where I'll do it. I want to keep things as simple as possible, so I likely won't be enabling comments here -- not because I don't enjoy them, but because A. I feel bad whenever I miss one or am not able to respond right away, and B. it's much easier for me to respond on Instagram. Feel free to leave a comment there!
Coming Up Next...
In 2020 (and now in 2021, too), I've rediscovered the joy of having things come to you in the mail -- as have the rest of my family. To that end, we've been getting each other gift cards for Christmas and birthday presents, and we've been putting them to good use.
I recently used some American Girl gift cards to buy my newest doll, a Truly Me #86, whom I've named Sophie Micallef. She's my Maltese-American girl, and I've really enjoyed developing her story, because it's all based on my mom's side of the family. I'll introduce her in a later post, but she's my mini me, Mia's cousin. Having the two of them in my display case has been a good reminder that someday, I'll get to see my own cousins and other family members again. My family is very close-knit, and it's been really hard only being able to see them via Zoom.
Since I now have 1.5 Maltese dolls (Mia is half, like me), and thanks to being inspired by American Girl's fun new World Traveler series, I decided to try my hand at making them a quintessential Maltese Easter treat, figolli. These pastries have always been a staple of my family's Easter get-togethers, and even though I can't really eat them (they're made with almonds -- I just steal the chocolate egg on top), I've always loved how they look. I'll be making a post about them soon, too.
Stay tuned!
