I recently got an employee award that came with some money, so I decided to treat myself and get a doll that’s been on my wishlist since I was a kid…

Samantha Parkington
The one and only… Samantha Parkington!

I know there’s a very nice BeForever version of Samantha currently available from American Girl, but I’ve always loved the look of the earlier Samantha dolls. I wanted to get her back in 2008 after her retirement was announced, but school costs prevented me. A few years later, I thought about getting one off eBay to be my first American Girl doll, but decided on Isabelle because I wanted to have the full experience of getting a doll directly from American Girl.

Patiently waiting to be unboxed.

I think of all the dolls I’ve gotten in the mail, unboxing Samantha was the most exciting. It felt so amazing to open that box and see the doll I always wanted as a kid. I bought her gold brooch as well (which ended up being in even nicer condition than described!), so now I truly have the Samantha I’ve always dreamed of.

I think she might be the only doll that I keep dressed in historical clothes only. In fact, I might just keep her in her meet outfit for a long time, because I love it so much. It’s probably my favorite of all the meet outfits, historical or otherwise. I might swap out her shoes, though. The rubber shoes do help her to stand better, but they’re definitely not as nice as some of her BeForever shoes.

Home Sweet Home!

Expect to see a lot more Samantha on my Instagram! I am SO thrilled to finally have her – and I’ve been having fun posing her with her Scenes and Settings backdrops! Eeee! ♥
